  Plum Point and Bannerman's Island

This portion of the river is filled with legend, from the scenic ruin on Bannerman's island and Hudson Highlands to the south.

To the south of the launch point, along the west shore of the Hudson River, is the Moodna Creek Estuary.  Further south, also along the west shore is the town of Cornwall on Hudson. The Hudson Highlands also lie to the south.

Across the shipping channel lies Bannerman's Island. The island and castle are property of the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation. A non-profit organization, The Bannerman Castle Trust, was formed about a decade ago to rehabilitate the island and eventually, open it to the public.  As the access to the island is controlled by the trust, do not land on it.  Submerged debris, rip-rap and other items create the island sea wall, use caution in and around these structures.
