Along the south shore of Saugatuck Connecticut, in the Long Island Sound are approximately 23 Islands that comprise the Norwalk Islands. Many of the Norwalk Islands are privately owned, some are part of the Stewart B. McKinney National Wildlife Refuge (Chimon and Sheffield) and have restricted access and some are owned by the City of Norwalk (Shea and Grassy Island) and are open to the public. |
CURRENT OFFERINGS
Launch Point: Public launch at the Saugatuck River. Take Interstate 95 to
Norwalk. Launch site (cement boat ramp) is below the I-95 overpass of the
Saugatuck River. Plenty of parking is available.
Weather and water conditions will dictate a mid-tour landing point.
Learning to kayak safely, effectively and efficiently is best done with the help of a qualified instructor. The lead instructors for River Connection Kayak Instructional Courses are American Canoe Association (ACA) Certified Instructors.
Skills development courses are worth months of just paddling around. If you are interested in learning more kayaking skills, consider one of our Kayak Instructional Programs.
