The watershed of the Croton River extends from the Pawling
Mountains of Dutchess and Putnam Counties to the lakes of Westchester
County and supplies approximately 10% of New York City's water. The
Croton Dam was built on this river in 1837. Access to the Hudson River
and Croton Point is through a 1/2-mile long marsh area draining into Croton
Bay. |
Launch Point: Public launch at Croton Point Park. From Route 9 look
for the Croton Point Park Entrance / Croton Harmon train station signs.
Follow signs into the park.
Weather and water conditions will dictate a mid-tour landing point.
Learning to kayak safely, effectively and efficiently is best
done with the help of a
qualified instructor. The lead instructors for River Connection Kayak
Instructional Courses are American Canoe Association (ACA) Certified
Instructors.
Skills development courses are worth months of just
paddling around. If you are interested in learning more kayaking skills, consider one of our
Kayak Instructional Programs.
Your tuition includes use of all equipment for the duration of the kayak
tour. See our
Policy Page for additional information.
