Greetings from Ottawa River, Canada
July 16 - 18, 2004
The Jimicup squirt boating festival is
held ever summer at the Ottawa River in Canada. This year the
river was exceptionally high, but the levels for paddling were still
quite fun.
I joined other squirt boaters to paddle the nearby
Rouge and Gatineau Rivers in Quebec providence. The weekend was a
social and fun adventure. On the final day, there is a competition
for mystery moves: riding the river currents under water. Each
competitor gains a score for five rides totaling the amount of time
spent submerged in the eddy-line. I earned a tenth place finish
out of thirty paddlers. This was the first time I made the top ten
in a mystery move competition, so I was pretty excited. The final
mission of the Jimicup is to take a picture with everyone's squirt boat
lined up.
